Co-Founder/Founding Instructor, The Valuation Collective

“A focus on being helpful is the key to my success. Appraisers often think you can't be both impartial and helpful. That is not true.”— Emily

Emily Braman, MAI, SRA, AI-GRS is a co-founder of The Valuation Collective, where she helps women appraisers move into the complex, high-value work that most of the profession is afraid to take on.

Emily is a third-generation appraiser and the president and chief appraiser of C.P. Braman & Co. in Cleveland. She was in her father's office at twelve, joined the firm in 1987, and earned her Certified General credential in 1991. She bought the company from her father in 1999. When he died two years later, she took over everything: a full client roster, an eminent domain project in progress-all with a three-week-old baby. She has grown the firm in both services and volume every year since.

Her practice runs to the assignments most appraisers never see. She has appraised five Frank Lloyd Wright properties on referral from the Wright Building Conservancy. She has served as a Rule 71.1 Commissioner in federal court and as a special master alongside four attorneys. She has testified before the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals, county Boards of Revision, Common Pleas, and five probate courts. Her client list includes twenty-eight Ohio boards of education, fifty municipalities, the Cleveland Clinic, the National Park Service, and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In April 2026 she taught attorneys how to evaluate appraisals in a webinar for the American Bar Association. She founded Ascend Appraisers so the women of this profession would have a room of their own. The Valuation Collective is that work scaled: expertise made visible, verifiable, and findable.

Emily says that by having a focus on being helpful is the key to her success. “Appraisers often think you can’t be both impartial and helpful. That is not true.”

That belief shapes how she practices and how she teaches. Emily has given a city council a preliminary appraisal in executive session, in plain English, with three defensible ranges and no single number imposed, and left with a signed certification in the file and a grateful client. She founded Ascend Appraisers to give women in this profession a room of their own, and The Valuation Collective is that work at scale: making expertise visible, verifiable, and findable.
